Noel Gallagher quits Oasis... but for how long?

"It takes more than blood to be my brother," said Liam Gallagher, in an interview with the NME. And now, it seems that one of the most infamous partnerships in pop could well be over following the news that Noel Gallagher has quit Oasis... but... really?

Its hardly surprising that theres been a scrap in the band, but something tells us that the band are just too old and too comfortable to keep up. Noel Gallagher, more mellow than ten years ago has seemingly let out a big sigh and thought sod this, I cant be arsed anymore.

On the Oasis website, Noel has written: "Its with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight. People will write and say what they like but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer. Apologies to all the people who bought tickets to the shows in Paris, Konstanz and Milan."

The band were due to play last night at the Rock en Seine festival in Paris, but apparently, the Gallagher brothers were involved in a fight backstage minutes before they were scheduled to go on stage.

Of late, theres been a steady stream of insults on social networking websites, goading each other at every turn. Your average Oasis fan invariably thought it was just the usual from the Gallaghers and probably didnt read too much into it.

However, this one seems a bit final and Scottish singer Amy Macdonald, who was also on the bill at the French festival last night, wrote on her Twitter page shortly after 9pm: "Oasis cancelled again with one minute to stage time! Liam smashed Noels guitar, huuuge fight!" later updating, saying "Noels quit".

This isnt the first time Noel has walked out on the band and its far from the first time that the brothers have been involved in a scrap. Its probably best to not read too much into this... however... things do seem a little bit final this time round. What next for Oasis? And do you even care?
